ChipReminder is designed as a private, lightweight recovery chip tracker. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and what to keep in mind when adding recovery-related details.

Information We Collect

We collect the email address you use to sign in or create an account. We may also store optional nickname information, recovery track names, Surrender Day dates, meeting weekdays, chip and coin milestone status, milestone dates, reminder settings, and reminder delivery records.

We also collect technical and security information needed to operate the app, including session identifiers, authentication cookie values, login token records, IP address, browser or device user agent, request URLs, security logs, and login or reminder email delivery logs.

How We Use Information

We use your information to create and maintain your account, send sign-in links, show your dashboard, calculate chip and coin milestones, keep milestone history, save reminder preferences, send requested email reminders, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, maintain security, and respond to support requests.

Recovery and Health-Related Details

Track names, Surrender Day dates, milestone status, and reminder emails may reveal recovery, sobriety, emotional health, or other personal information if you choose to enter those details. Use initials, neutral labels, or less specific wording if you do not want sensitive details to appear in the app, browser history, email inboxes, or email notifications.

Cookies and Sign-In

ChipReminder uses session cookies and authentication cookies to keep you signed in and protect your account. Authentication cookies are set with HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and secure delivery when the site is served over HTTPS. Sign-in links expire after 10 minutes, and persistent authentication tokens expire after 30 days unless revoked sooner.

Email Sign-In Links and Reminders

ChipReminder uses secure email links for login and sends reminder emails only according to the reminder settings saved on your account. Reminder emails may include track names, chip or coin names, expected dates, and links back to ChipReminder, so choose track labels that feel appropriate for email.

Service Providers

We use service providers to run the app, send email, protect the login form, host assets, and maintain the service. These providers may process information needed for those services, such as email addresses, message content, IP addresses, browser details, request metadata, or security assessment data. Current app integrations include Resend for email delivery and Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise for login abuse prevention.

What ChipReminder Is Not

ChipReminder is not medical advice, treatment, counseling, crisis support, or a replacement for meetings, sponsorship, professional care, or emergency services.

Sharing

ChipReminder does not include public profiles, social feeds, or built-in sharing. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose information to service providers that help operate the app, when needed to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

Security

The app uses safeguards such as HTTPS on the production domains, session-based authentication, expiring sign-in links, hashed login tokens, hashed persistent-token validators, CSRF protection on account changes, reCAPTCHA checks on login requests, login throttling, protected cookies, and database-backed security logs. No web app can guarantee perfect security, so avoid using highly sensitive details in track names or other free-text fields.

Data Retention

We keep account, track, milestone, reminder, login, and security records for as long as needed to provide ChipReminder, maintain security, troubleshoot the service, comply with legal obligations, and handle support requests. Expired or used login records and security logs may remain for abuse prevention, audit, and troubleshooting purposes.

Your Choices and Requests

You can update track names, dates, status, and reminder settings from inside the app. You can also choose not to enable reminder emails. For account-level access, correction, deletion, or privacy requests, contact support at: [email protected].

Children

ChipReminder is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

We may update this policy as ChipReminder changes. The "Last updated" date above shows when this policy was most recently revised.
